近日一名 iPod 用家因 iPod 會令人聽覺受損而入稟 San Jose 聯邦法院，據傳票上的投訴，原告人指 iPod 能產生 115 分貝以上的聲音 (每天聽超過 28 秒能使聽覺受損)，沒有依照法國的做法令聲量不超過 100 分貝，其設計缺陷加上沒有足夠的警告提醒用戶。

雖然現時 iPod 等MP3 player 十分流行，不過專家說導致聽力損失的機會不算高，University of Northern Colorado 的聽力學教授 Deanna Meike 表示：“We have numerous products in the marketplace that have the potential to damage hearing…The risk is there but the risk lies with the user and where they set the volume.”

一於以往，蘋果沒有就事件對外發表意見。
